Where Have the Fans Gone?

We Sailor Moon fans are a dying breed. The thing is, people have moved on to other things. The show ended years ago. I only know of four sites I visit regularly that are still being updated--a lot of them list their last updates sometime in 2002.

I'm going to keep updating as long as I remain a fan and have more to say. But will anybody come to the site? Somehow, I don't think so.

Villain shrines tend to be the ones that go down first, for some reason. For instance, I only know 2 Dark Kingdom fansites that were updated last year. The DK villains are my favorite characters on the entire show, closely followed by the Death Busters. Speaking of the DB villains, they hardly have any fans as far as I know.

I'll admit I'm not crazy about Kaolinite or Mistress 9, but Professor Tomoe and the Witches 5 are both sinister and hilarious. (Does anybody remember that scene where Prof. Tomoe is running on a treadmill?)  Eudial's driving 'skills', and the idea of having a 'fire' villainess who used a flamethrower instead of magic, were true genius, not to mention Mimete's boy-crazy, ambitious personality. I LOVED the Death Busters as villains, and sometimes I can't believe that they don't have more fans out there.

Then again, how many fansites are there out there that are still going strong? Almost none. I'm sure I'll be a fan for as long as I live, but I'm also pretty sure I'll be among the last fans. I'll keep updating, and I'll never let this site go under. And maybe there'll be a revival of interest. Maybe Sailor Moon will become 'cool' again, and a bunch of new fansites will pop up.

I can only hope.
